Anybody can run. Even if you have not been active, you can pick it up and enjoy running in a few short weeks. In 4 weeks, someone can go from not able to run continuously for 5 minutes to completing a 10 minutes run with Run4life training programme.
Training must be enjoyable, it must not lead to injury, it must inspire you to do more, it must give you results.
- You want training to be enjoyable because nobody wants to do something they hate. You have a finite number of years on earth, you want to be sure that you maximise your enjoyment. Doing something enjoyable makes it meaningful to you.
- You want training not to injure you because, lets face it, being injured isn’t fun. Its painful too and downtime means less of doing the things you enjoy.
- You want training to inspire you to do more because, you want it to be self-sustaining. How can you do this? Do something you enjoy. If you enjoy cycling, cycle, if you enjoy running, run. Set manageable and progressive goals, achieving these goals will inspire you.
- You want training to give you results because, why do something without a goal? Set a goal which is manageable, achievable and measurable. Devise a training plan that will be enjoyable, sustainable and show results.
If this is you and you want to start training,
or
You feel a need to talk to someone about your goals in life
The Run4life training programme is a goal based programme. It is based on and adapted from the Furman Institute of Running and Scientific Training (FIRST), Run Less Run Faster.
The programme is hinged on 3 quality sessions, with each session having its specific purpose in terms of adaptation and physical manifestation.
The 3 quality sessions are:
In addition to these 3 quality sessions, it is recommended that the trainees perform 2 other sessions during the week outside of running. These 2 sessions are cross training and can be swim, cycle, gym sessions or whatever the he or she fancies.
