Comeback! A message to his daughters

This post is about my army buddy’s reasons and motivations for his comeback journey after an injury.

Last year, Hashim completed the 10km race of the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2017. This year, my buddy will attempt the half marathon at the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2018 and God willing, he will complete it. Next year, God willing, he will attempt the full 42.

On race week, Hashim has allowed me to share this message, he wrote to his daughters:

To my lovely daughters,

It’s about ayah’s journey to regain fitness, since almost 3 years ago, I have undergone exercise, physiotherapy, doctors treatment, coaching sessions.  It is about ayah’s promise to myself, it’s about being committed, it’s about being disciplined. Work is still in progress.

It’s not about the ‘end’ – the “race day” , but the whole experience and process. It’s about getting and making oneself motivated, it’s about seeing the whole reason about one’s mission, it’s about perseverance.
YOU CAN DO IT.

To my lovely daughters,

Achieving your dream, target, mission, .. need plenty of sacrifice.
It requires courage, perseverance, discipline, patience, positive motivation and support.

It seems easier said than done.
But, the reality is, there will be negativity, hiccups, unforseen circumstances, .. but that is exactly the challenge.
Only the committed, the courageous, the tough ones will survive.

The reality too, … There’s no short cut to success, .. in your studies, in everything, and especially true in improving ones fitness, maintaining healthy habits, attitude and lifestyle.

It needs a change in mindset. New habits need to be ‘Relearned’.

It CAN BE DONE.
“YOU CAN DO IT”
Self believe is the 1st step.
Put it in your mind.
…. “I CAN DO IT” …

Happy Hashim showing off his medal. On Sunday, he will be showing off a 21km finisher’s medal.

Yes, we all can do it, if we set our goals to achieve it. No matter what ‘it’ is.

Here is Happy Hashim showing off his medal. On Sunday, he will be showing off a 21km finisher’s medal.

Good luck all runners this weekend
