Singapore is an amazing place. Despite all the hype about it being an urban city scape, small pockets of tranquil gathering of trees exist.
We have forests although, those who come to live and visit here from large land masses will laugh at us for it. What we call forests, others, might call a copse of trees.
This then is Clementi Forest.
Looking at the map on the Runkeeper app, Clementi Forest is roughly 300,000 square meters. The trail that I took from rail corridor to the Maju Camp tunnel, which is underneath Clementi Road was 800m.
To get there, you have to get to the rail corridor and the closest entry point will be on Dunearn Road near King Albert Park MRT. If you drive, then KAP Mall is where you can park. You can chance parking on the residential roads too, though residents might frown.
Once you are on the rail corridor then head south until you come across a canal or stream running across and underneath the corridor. This point is about 800m from the metal bridge above Dunearn Road. Here hang a right, and follow the path, keeping the stream to the right of you. You need to pay attention to find the disused rail tracks as this is behind a screen of shrubs. Once you are on the track just follow it. The track will soon become a stream and you may have to climb on higher ground on the left to avoid getting wet. The Maju Camp tunnel is at the end of this stream/ disused rail track. Go through the tunnel, follow the path and you will end up at Sunset Way. Some grub can be had there.
Happy trekking. Need a guide? Leave a message here.
